So, you’re thinking about booking a boudoir shoot but feel like you need to be prepared first? Do you feel stuck at where to start? I feel you. I sort of obsessed over what to wear the first time I did a boudoir shoot. Thankfully, though, it’s actually not too complicated and doesn’t have to cost a lot! Below is our recommendation for the number one lingerie item that every woman should own …
Behold, the Body Suit aka the Teddy
There are a ton of reasons why I love bodysuits and why I think you will too. Because, honestly, they look great on EVERY body type. Period. I have yet to see a bodysuit not look good on a woman. They are incredibly flattering and often are a great starter piece to get you comfy for your shoot. After I show you a picture from the back of the camera I guarantee you’ll believe me. They really are that great.
Undoubtedly, I can find bodysuits for all body types and budgets. They come with sleeves, without sleeves, low cut front, high cut front, low back, high back, high leg cut, boy short cut, thong back, and so on. They come in lace, velvet, cotton, satin, leather, vinyl, I mean… it’s pretty much endless. Another reason why they are so awesome is because they also can be worn under jeans and are always a nice surprise for your partner. Pro-tip: wear a cozy sweater over it and a pair of jeans. It’s honestly like cheating with lingerie. You don’t have to fuss much. I truly hope they never go out of style because I’ll be wearing them forever!
Unquestionably, you should own at least one, but where do you shop? You might already know about this; however, I know I didn’t before, so…. drumroll, please…
Here are a few of my absolute favorite options, with links to online stores:
Forever 21, Amazon, and Victoria’s Secret are my top sites to check first.
- Velvet bodysuit from F21
- Lace White Bodysuit with tie back (comes in other colors!). Shown in the last picture below (Amazon)
- Vinyl Thong Teddy (I’m drooling over at Victoria’s Secret). If you own this, please let me know what you think: https://www.victoriassecret.com/
While I think these are great options, I promise that I’ll update this list as I actually buy and try more. :-* I prefer to recommend items that I have touched and tried myself. I hate wasting my money on duds just as much as anyone else does.

Things to note:
Not all bodysuits on Amazon and forever 21 are created equal. I highly recommend reading reviews on fit and feel first and of course, you should look at my recommendations here as I’ve already tried them. Sizing and materials can be weird and what feels “nice” to one might feel cheap to others. Also, for the larger busted ladies, you’ll need to be careful of the length and waist to bust ratio as they can become a bit tent-like. When you know, you know.
The pieces I listed above have worked great on me and smaller busted girls. Check the reviews and use a fabric tape measure and you’ll be golden!
Do you have a favorite that I should try and then add to the list? Let me know! When I say I’m obsessed with wearing these, I’m serious.
